Olivia Rae Harris
Olivia was born on July 4th in Ohio. Her birthday has continuously pushed reflections about Independence in America within her practice, exploring themes of identity, beauty, and belonging. In her portraiture, she works to address the cruel optimism commonly experienced in Black American girlhood when it comes to desirability and affirmation. Her camera allows her to pursue the motions of performance and observation, to find spaces where human consciousness is shaped and revealed.
Olivia will receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Parsons School of Design in 2025. She currently resides and works in New York as a Research Assistant, Darkroom Supervisor, and Printing Instructor.
